More than twenty years ago, Shirchadasj & Band went on tour to Hungary for the first time. The at that time communist authorities were not too pleased with the mission of Shirchadasj. The Hungarian audience however has been so enthusiastic that Shirchadasj was invited back every year since.
After this first tour, some music groups and bands were founded in different places in the country that brought modern music into the local churches.
Without exaggeration can be stated that Shirchadasj and Band played an important role in the development of gospel music in the former East-European country.

The reputation of Shirchadasj & Band in Hungary is after twenty annual tours, the release of CDs, cassettes and television and radio attention even bigger than in Holland. During the 1998 tour the group visited besides Hungary also Romania.

Members and crew of Shirchadasj & Band don’t get any financial compensation for their work. The general view is that they should try to keep the costs as low as possible for the local organizations. This means that members and crew of Shirchadasj & Band pay for transport of people and material, publicity and local crew by themselves. The total amount of costs for a tour is around 25.000 euro every year.
Besides the payments of members and crew, Shirchadasj & Band financially depends on gifts of people who support their work.

Interesting is the co-operation with young Hungarian people, active in modern music. As a kind of exchange project the main reasons to do this are: building a long-term relationship, exchanging experiences and continuity of the work of Shirchadasj & Band in Hungary. Every year a couple of Hungarian people participate in the organisation of concerts in Hungary as singers, musicians, road crew or management trainees.

In April/May 2009 Shirchadasj & Band tours for the 24th time in Hungary, having concerts in theatres, churches, shopping malls and schools. Hungarian TV channels MTV and RTL-Klub report about it and some specials about the group can be seen on their channels as well as on regional TV channels.
